TACCIA Limited Edition Pearl Kaleidoscope Maki-e Raden Fountain Pen. Inspired by the unique prismatic designs of a kaleidoscope, the TACCIA Pearl Kaleidoscope combines new techniques with old-world charm. The use of lacquer carving, abalone inlay, natural black urushi lacquer, and delicate polishing skills to achieve a high-gloss shine, gives a level of three-dimensional depth that brings life to the detailed barrel. Each Pearl Kaleidoscope contains 366 pieces of hand-cut, hand-carved, and hand-inserted mother of pearl onto the barrel.

Urushi lacquer is then applied to the specially treated ebonite barrel, and polished with deer horn powder, mink brushes, and soft leather, to create the high sheen and textured relief. Produced in 2010 with only 25 fountain pens created worldwide. Ours is a very low #08/25. The writing instrument has never been used, it comes complete with original boxes and documents. The ebonite does show some fading and slight discoloration on the end of the pen. (shown in our last photograph).
