Pilot Custom 823 Transparent / Clear Demonstrator. Pilot the Custom 823 however is rare in that it is a plunger-vacuum fill system. To fill you simply unscrew the black top and pull the plunger towards you and then back down (which is counterintuitive) which creates a vacuum inside the chamber and draws a huge 2.2 milliliters into the pen's chamber. This is as much ink as any fountain pen holds.

To write you need to twist the end about 2 mm to open the ink flow. The Pilot Custom 823 has an integrated neck and body. The neck is completely fixed and not a rotatable structure. So do not turn the screw on the neck. Please note, this is a precise mechanism, you'll notice some grease (whitish streak) inside the barrel which is there to ensure proper functioning of the filling mechanism. It is not a defective product, please be understanding of this beforehand.
