The Harding Blanket has a very historical relevance for Pendleton Woolen Mills. It was in 1923 when President Harding and the first lady, Florence Harding took a trip out West to dedicate the Oregon Trail. The Harding blanket was presented to the first lady by local Cayuse and Umatilla Chiefs. The historical designs taken from that original blanket live on today in Pendletons Harding inspired sweaters and blankets.
